Tim Weyrich's work operates at an intersection of digital humanities research and employment of state of the art imaging technologies. He has recently completed important work around skin reflectance, which is a crucial area in circumventing the uncanny valley.

He has also overseen research in digitally pattern matching fragments of Thera frescoes in order that they might be reconstructed. The prime thrust of this work was designing an agile system which would improve the workflow of digitally archiving fragments found on archaeological digs. He also developed robust pattern matching software which considered more variables simultaneously than previous software suites.

Research Interests; appearance modeling, point-based graphics, 3D reconstruction, cultural heritage acquisition and digital humanities.
