Dr Peg Rawes

I am Professor in Architecture and Philosophy, Programme Director of the MA Architectural History, and a PhD Supervisor for Architectural Design and Architectural History and Theory PhD Programmes.  My research and teaching focus on material, political, technological and ecological histories and theories of contemporary architecture and art.

Since 2010 my research has focused on social, architectural and material ecologies. My 3-year AHRC collaboration with Dr Beth Lord (Philosophy, Aberdeen) about wellbeing, equality and the UK housing crisis has published its film, Equal by Design (2016). Made with our collaborators, Lone Star Productions, and including interviews with architects, journalists and academics, you can see it here: www.equalbydesign.co.uk

Other publications include: Poetic Biopolitics: Practices of Relation in Architecture and the Arts (co-ed., 2016) and Architectural Relational Ecologies: Architecture, Nature and Subjectivity (2013); 'Humane and inhumane ratios' in The Architecture Lobby's Aysmmetric Labors (2016) and 'Spinoza's geometric and ecological ratios' in The Politics of Parametricism, eds. Shvartzberg and Poole (2015). Previous books: Space Geometry and Aesthetics: Through Kant and Towards Deleuze (2008) and Irigaray for Architects (2007).
